Professional Learning
Supporting PL Together
A suite of processes for Supporting Professional Learning Together has been developed - CLDSC Connectors, CLDSC Buddies, CLDSC Peer Mentors and CLDSC Professional Learning Verifiers.
CONNECTOR
We're ALL Connectors!
Make the most of networks and communities of practice - in person, on social media, online.
#CLDSCConnector
BUDDY
An experienced/retired CLD practitioner who volunteers to share their experience in an informal way to others newer to the field.
Chat about CLD practice, think through where you are now in your career and where you would like to be.
Discuss an area of CLD work or project which is new to you and ask daft questions you don't want to ask anyone else!
PEER MENTOR
You choose to be involved and you choose the peer from your own or another authority and/or section of CLD. This needs to be more than a friend and/or acquaintance and/or colleague. Mutual respect has to be given. This is a professional development role.
Key to the success of the professional peer support model is:
- professional support and challenge with a peer
- creating and encouraging enthusiasm
- discovering creativity and drive in each other
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING VERIFIER
Someone who helps you to:
- assess you own PL needs and interests
- set your PL goals and create a plan for meeting them
- explore what PL opportunities are available to you
- reflect on and record the PL you have undertaken
They...
- give advice and guidance to support your career development
- ask questions that can raise awareness of your practice
- challenge you appropriately when giving feedback
- verify your PL record for registration and re-registration purposes
- do NOT replace your line manager
