    About Learn North

    The Learn North is a partnership of Community Learning and Development practitioners from eight North of Scotland Community Learning and Development Partnerships of:

    • Aberdeen
    • Aberdeenshire
    • Argyll & Bute
    • Highland
    • Moray
    • Orkney
    • Shetland
    • Western Isles


    Values and principles

    The CLD Partnerships includes those working in the third sector as well as public sector agencies, all of whom work within a partnership agreement which reflects the values of community learning and development (CLD). These are:

    • Self-determination
    • Inclusion
    • Empowerment
    • Working collaboratively
    • Promotion of learning as a lifelong activity


    Aims and goals

    The key aim of the Partnership is to improve opportunities and access to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the CLD workforce in the Partnership area with the ultimate outcome of improving positive learning outcomes in communities.


    Learn North Structure

    Membership of Learn North is open to anyone from the eight counties involved in Community Learning Development. At present we have about 300 members. If you would like to become a member, please click here.

    The Learn North Strategy Group is comprised of at least one representative from each of the eight counties, from both the statutory and third sector, along side a representative from the CLD Standards Council. The Group meet quarterly and current membership can be seen below.
