Has anyone utilised PEF funding to support pupil and parental engagement plus family learning?  Many thanks.

Hi Karen

Because PEF monies have went straight to their designated schools this was never a consideration.Every school I know has used the fund for extra staff in school,HSLW and Pupil attainment teachers.I have never seen the fund used in a particularly creative way outwith the school building or for what you suggest...however that's just here in Elgin,it may be different in other areas.

HI Karen

We have - our Youth Team has accessed PEF funding to deliver pupil engagement activities and my Team ( Adult learning and literacies ) have delivered family learning. Our department pulled together a paper for head teachers with examples of what we can do, which I've attached.

In Adult Learning, we 've been funded to deliver  Family learning projects in negotiation with the parents/carers and schools, mainly based on food!  We also deliver courses for adults, which aim to have positive impacts on their family life e.g. Child Development, we cover costs for these in the man part but we've managed to access some PEF and SAC monies to pay for crèche support for them.

We've got various reports on programmes if you're interested.

Cheers

Jane
