Resources for Alternative Curriculum/Alternative to exclusion
by Susan Millar - Friday, 15 January 2016, 2:58 PM

Hi everyone,

Our local Academy have approached the CLD team asking if we can work with them in developing a programme for a group of S3 pupils. These pupils are not engaging in school for various reasons and present challenging behaviour.

I am in the process of researching what other local authorities and third sector partners offer in terms of an alternative curriculum/alternatives to exclusion and what accreditation routes they offer (if any).

Thanks in advance for any signposting or contacts.

Susan

Hello Susan

We have workers in Schools who offer SCQF level 3 (6 points per unit) accredited learning progammes for young people in senior phase who are facing exclusion. This involves Personal Development Self in Community, Enterprise Activity, Personal Development Self Awareness and Working with Others. The school oversees the award. We also deliver Youth Achievement Awards to S3 pupils who do not engage with the school.  This can include personal development, your community, self awareness, residential activities and college placements.
