The Scottish Government is
consulting on a Human
Rights Bill, which will incorporate a range of rights into
Scots law for the first time, as far as possible within the limits of
devolved competence. This is one of the biggest steps forward in human
rights in Scotland. The proposed Human Rights Bill brings the four United
Nations international human rights treaties into the law in Scotland,
within the limits of the Scottish Parliament's devolved powers, as well
as recognise and include the right to a healthy environment and make sure
the rights it sets out in Scots law are available to everyone equally.
The CLD Standards Council, in
partnership with Human Rights
Consortium Scotland, will be hosting 3 opportunities for its
members to join online and “Have Your Say”. We want as many member's
voices to be heard in this Scottish Government consultation, so these
sessions are designed for members to find out more about the proposed
Bill, as well as openly discuss any thoughts, ideas or concerns they
have.
We also want to discuss and
enquire how it will impact CLD, and the people and the communities we
support as a sector. Together, we have an opportunity to help inform and
shape this new Bill. The data gathered during these sessions will form
part of the response CLD Standards Council will submit to this
consultation.
