Has anyone used any kind of permission with ESOL learners that indicates they are happy for their phone number to be shared as they are getting ESOL classes via WhatsApp group?

I have . I basically used text message to ask permission and asked reply by thumbs up or down. I then uploaded text message to a folder on my laptop and saved it. I also did same for reply. You could also get message translated into the language of the learner?? Just remember to have evidence of permission asked and reply.

Hi Ruth.

You can set up broadcast groups on whattsapp that should ensure that everyone can't see one another's mobile phone number.

Would also look at using whattsapp for buisness rather than regual WhatsApp as the terms of refrnfe and permissions are different
