Edinburgh Literacies Forum Online (ELFONLINE)

Edinburgh Literacies Forum Online (ELFONLINE) is an on line community of practice aimed at all literacy and numeracy practitioners – tutors, volunteers and partners interested in the development of adult literacies learning in Edinburgh.

It’s a network for sharing ideas, resources, experiences and keeping in touch with each other around literacy issues. It provides a forum for online discussions, up to date news and information and access to resources to support practitioners working with literacy and numeracy and ESOL students. There are currently over 140 members of the Forum

Neil Saddington is a CLD worker with the Literacies for Employability Project, operating in the South West and West of Edinburgh. He was involved in the creation of the forum which was set up with funding from the CLD Upskilling Project and developed by practitioners who were engaged in literacies work. A key element of ELF’s initial development and ongoing success is the commitment of its members, much of which is done on a voluntary basis.

Here Neil talks about the importance of ELF to his work, his involvement in its creation and how he’s used it to support his own professional development.

Access the ELF website.
