Critical questions

Develop your reflection skills

Is this the first time you have been asked to reflect on your learning and practice or have you done it before? Reflecting on learning and practice is something that gets easier the more you do it.

You can check out this article from 'Skills You Need' to find out ways to develop this skill. The good news is that it is really useful in all aspects of our lives.

Don't keep it all to yourself. Talk to your colleagues and your supervisor or course mentor and see if they can help you answer the question below.

Consider this question:  Why do we need to reflect on our professional learning and practice?

We will explore this further in Unit 2.3

>> ACTION

Record your thoughts on the 4 questions in the slide above and on developing your reflection skills and submit this for review (and to refer to in later units).

When you are ready click on the 'Add Submission' button below. You can then type straight into the box provided or upload something you have prepared earlier, or press the record button if you'd prefer to make an audio or video recording.

Click on the 'Save changes' button to submit.

You can also save your work to your private portfolio so that you can look back at it as you go through your induction. It will be helpful to you in Unit 3. If you'd like someone to have a look at it, you are welcome to choose someone in the CLD Standards Council to share it with. For example it can be a colleague, someone you studied with, your old tutor, youth worker or community worker or anyone you know that is a member of the CLD Standards Council.
